At Hope Street, we know it can be hard to live in a community. Part of the change is learning to live in peace and work out our conflicts with respect and honesty. Disruptive behavior is detrimental to personal recovery and directly impacts the harmony within the house.
Disruptive behavior includes, but is not limited to, the following:
• Disrespect and/or lying
• Bullying
• Drug talk/romanticizing
• Maintaining associations with people that partake in activities that are counterproductive to a recovery lifestyle
• Failure to comply with house rules
Disruptive behavior that impacts the community of Hope Street will be resolved through the following steps:
1. The behavior will be presented to the resident via the recovery advocate. The resident will then be expected to change that behavior. The recovery advocate will specify that it is an official verbal warning. Residents will receive two verbal warnings.
2. If the resident does not change her behavior, the recovery advocate will place the resident on a written contract for 30 days. This contract is between the resident and Hope Street.
3. If the resident fails to comply with their contract they will be asked to leave Hope Street. The resident will be expected to be out of the house by 5:00 p.m. that day. The resident may reapply after 30 days.
Each resident may be on no more than two written contracts over 6 months. If a resident needs a third contract, they will be asked to leave Hope Street. The resident may not reapply for 6 months.

Relapses are discovered through random UA’s; random pill counts or self-disclosure. Any relapse will result in a 30-day vacancy requirement; after the 30-day vacancy, you will be able to apply for readmission. Upon relapse, you will have 30 minutes to vacate the Hope Street property. Any personal belongings left behind will be held for 30 days before being donated to a local non-profit charity. Anyone who self-discloses will have their bed held for 30 days, keep in mind that this is no guarantee for re-admittance.
If you produce a positive UA and state that you have not used, a control test will be done. If the control test shows that there is still a positive result, you can choose to have a UA sent to an outside lab for testing. You will be required to vacate the house until Hope Street staff receives your lab results. If the lab results are negative, you will be allowed to move back into the house. If the lab results are positive, you will be required to vacate the house for an additional 30 days before you can re-apply for readmission.
If you wish to apply for re-admission you will be required to actively participate in an individual recovery plan created for you by the Recovery Advocate. While relapse does require a 30-day vacancy, with a clean UA, you will still be able to participate in programming at Hope Street as well as any house functions. After 30 days you will have to partake in an interview process with Hope Street staff and all current residents. A second relapse will result in an immediate vacancy, and you will not be able to reapply for up to one year.
